Key Stage 3 Overview ( Years 7, 8 and 9 )
At South Axholme Academy we offer a 3 year key stage 3.
At key stage 3, our intent is to offer a comprehensive introduction to a wide range of academic and creative subjects. Students will study English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities (Geography, History, Religious Education), Art, Spanish, Music, Physical Education and Performing Arts.
Where a student joins the academy with lower than expected levels in English and Mathematics, additional support in these subjects is provided.

Key Stage 4 Overview ( Years 10 and 11 )
Our Key Stage 4 curriculum is designed to be ambitious, flexible and personalised, enabling all students to follow a pathway that reflects their strengths, interests and future aspirations. Students study a core range of academic subjects alongside carefully chosen options, ensuring they achieve a broad and balanced set of qualifications.
We offer a combination of academic and vocational courses, including opportunities to follow the English Baccalaureate, helping to keep future education and career pathways open. Throughout Key Stage 4, students are supported to develop independence, resilience and a strong understanding of the importance of education in securing their next steps.
By the end of Year 11, students are fully prepared to progress confidently into Post 16 education, training or employment.
At key stage 4, all students will study English (Language and Literature), Mathematics, Combined Science, PSHE including RE and Core PE.
Depending on the most appropriate pathway, students are able to select from a wide range of option subjects that reflect their individual strengths, interests and future aspirations. These subjects are assessed at GCSE, equivalent Level 2, or Level 1 where appropriate to support each student’s progress. The options available include Art, Child Development, Computer Science, Construction, Dance, Drama, Engineering, Food Preparation and Nutrition, Geography, History, iMedia, Music, Photography, GCSE Physical Education, Religious Studies, Spanish, Sports Science, Statistics and Triple Science.

We believe that education extends far beyond the classroom. Tutor Time
Our Tutor Time programme is designed to support students’ personal development, academic success and future aspirations. Each week, students engage in a structured programme that includes assemblies, reading activities, personal development and careers education.
Through SAX Mindset, students explore attendance, achievement, current affairs and positive habits for learning.
SAX Reads and Register and Read (RnR) develop reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary and critical thinking through a range of engaging texts.
Our Global Citizenship programme helps students understand relationships, safety, equality, diversity, finance and British values, preparing them to play an active role in society.
Students also take part in Future sessions, which focus on careers, higher education, apprenticeships and employability skills, helping them make informed choices about their next steps.
Together, these activities ensure that tutor time is a meaningful part of the academy day, promoting confident, informed and well-rounded learners.
